How to create a phone call QR code

Generate a scannable QR that opens the dialer with your number pre-filled, using the tel: URI scheme.

  1. 1

Enter your number in international format

Start with + and the country code (e.g. +41 22 123 4567). Spaces are optional.

  2. 2

    Customize colors and shape

Match your brand. Keep high contrast for reliable camera scans on paper.

  3. 3

    (Optional) Add a logo

A small center logo reinforces branding on flyers and signs.

  4. 4

    Download

SVG for print, PNG for digital. Both encode the same tel: URI.

Veelgestelde vragen

What format should the phone number use?

International format with the country code: `+41 22 123 4567` or `+1 555 0100`. Spaces and dashes are ignored by the dialer. International format is safest — it works regardless of where the scanner is located.

Will the call actually happen automatically?

No — the phone opens the dialer with the number pre-filled. The user still has to tap the call button. This prevents accidental dialing and gives them a chance to see which number they are about to call.

Does the scanner need internet to dial?

No. Phone calls go through the cellular network, not the internet. The user can scan and dial even with Wi-Fi and mobile data off, as long as their SIM has reception.

Can I use this for a toll-free / short code?

Toll-free numbers (like +1-800-…) work fine. Short codes (5-6 digit SMS numbers) are not callable, so use the SMS QR generator instead for those.

Will international callers see the country code?

Yes — that is the whole point of the international format. A scanner anywhere in the world gets a correct, dialable number regardless of where they are.
