aukimi vs Adobe Creative Cloud

The whole suite, nothing installed

Adobe Creative Cloud is the industry standard, running as desktop applications. aukimi covers a comparable breadth of work — plus 3D and a game engine — from a browser tab.

Adobe is deeper in the disciplines it has owned for thirty years. aukimi is broader in one place, opens instantly on any machine, and covers game production end to end — which Creative Cloud does not.

One tab instead of one install per discipline

Creative Cloud is a collection of applications, each installed, each updated, each with its own file format. aukimi is one application with thirteen modules that share a renderer, a project and an undo history: a mesh sculpted in one module is painted in the next without an export step, because there is nothing to export it out of.

It runs on the machine you have

The requirement is a current browser. That includes a school Chromebook, a borrowed laptop and a machine you are not allowed to install software on — three situations where Creative Cloud is simply not an option. It also means no licence to move when you change computer.

Game production is the part Adobe does not do

Concept art, textures, animation, sound and the game itself live in the same suite, and a project can leave as a native Windows, macOS, Linux or Android build. Assembling that from Creative Cloud means adding a game engine from someone else and moving files between them.

When Adobe Creative Cloud is the right choice

It is the more capable suite in the disciplines it invented, and the honest answer is that it will stay so for a long time. Choose it when:

  • You do high-end photo retouching or work in Camera Raw — Photoshop has no equivalent here.
  • You produce for print: CMYK separations, spot colours and PDF/X are outside what aukimi does.
  • You are in a studio pipeline built on Adobe file formats, or on plugins there is no substitute for.
  • You edit long-form or broadcast video, or you need After Effects-grade compositing.
  • You must keep working with no internet connection.
