Not a replacement. A different trade

Blender is free, open source and formidable at 3D. aukimi trades some of that depth for a suite that opens instantly, covers 2D, video, audio and a game engine, and lets several people work in the same project.

Blender is deeper in 3D than aukimi is, or claims to be. aukimi is faster to start, easier to share, and puts the rest of the production — art, sound, the game itself — in the same place.

What Blender is better at, plainly

High-end offline rendering, physical simulation, geometry nodes, heavy scenes and the long tail of modelling operators are Blender's, and no browser tab is going to take them this year. If your work is 3D and nothing else, Blender is free and better at it.

What aukimi adds around the 3D

A game project is not only meshes. It is sprites, UI, a soundtrack, a trailer, and the game itself. In aukimi those live in one project with one undo history, and a texture painted in Pigment does not have to be exported, renamed and reimported to reach the engine.

Nothing to install, on any machine

This matters most where installation is not allowed or not possible: schools, shared machines, Chromebooks, a laptop borrowed for the afternoon. It also means a classroom of thirty starts at the same time instead of spending a lesson on downloads.

Several people, one project

aukimi projects are collaborative in real time — presence, cursors and live edits, with read-only guests who can watch and comment but not change. Blender is a single-user application; collaboration means passing files around.

When Blender is the right choice

Often, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise:

  • Your work is 3D first and the depth matters more than the breadth around it.
  • You need Cycles-quality offline rendering, or any physical simulation.
  • You rely on add-ons, or on scripting Blender in Python.
  • Your scenes are large enough that a browser's memory ceiling would be a real limit.
  • You want software that is free and open source, and that nobody can take away or change the price of.

aukimi reads and writes glTF and GLB, so a model can move between the two without a converter.
