Same promise, different craft

Figma proved that serious design tools belong in the browser. aukimi takes that premise somewhere else: art, 3D, video, sound and a game engine rather than interface design.

These two are rarely an either/or. Figma is where an interface is designed and handed to developers. aukimi is where the artwork, the models, the sound and the game itself are made.

Both are browser-native, and that is not a coincidence

Figma made the case that a demanding creative tool can live in a tab and be better for it: nothing to install, a link instead of a file, and several people in the same document. aukimi is built on the same conviction, applied to disciplines that used to demand a workstation — sculpting, rendering, video, a game engine.

Where the overlap actually is

Vector drawing is the only real overlap. Vectra is an illustration tool — bezier work, boolean operations, typography on paths, gradient meshes, export to SVG, PDF and EPS. Figma's vector engine is tuned for interfaces: constraints, auto-layout, components and variants. Neither is a good substitute for the other.

What aukimi has that Figma does not attempt

A 3D pipeline, a video editor, a digital audio workstation, a game engine that exports native builds, and multiplayer servers for the games you make with it. Figma has never claimed any of these, and this page is not pretending it fell short at them.

When Figma is the right choice

For interface work, it is not close:

  • You are designing an app or a website and need prototypes, flows and states.
  • You maintain a design system: components, variants, shared libraries, tokens.
  • Developers work from your files — inspection, specs and handoff are the point.
  • Your team already lives there, with comments and review in the same document.

A common answer is both: the interface in Figma, the art, sound and 3D in aukimi.
