Frequently Asked Questions

Are the tools actually pixel-perfect?

Yes — the drawing tools snap to the pixel grid and do not anti-alias unless you ask them to, which is the difference between a pixel art tool and a small canvas in a paint program.

Can I animate sprites here?

Frame by frame, with onion skinning to see the neighbouring frames while you draw the current one. Animations export as sprite sheets ready for any engine, aukimi's included.

Does it handle tilesets?

There is a dedicated tileset editor, so tiles are authored and previewed as a set rather than as loose images you hope line up.

What about palettes and indexed colour?

Palette management and indexed colour mode are both there — useful when you are working to a fixed palette on purpose, or targeting a retro constraint.

Which formats does it export?

PNG and sprite sheets for engines, GIF for a quick share, and the project itself stays editable in your account. Reference layers let you trace over an imported image without it ending up in the export.

Is it usable on a tablet?

Yes. Pixel work is one of the things that suits a touchscreen well, and the layout adapts to tablet-sized screens.
