Frequently Asked Questions

What can Fusion export?

MP4 and WebM for delivery, and ProRes when the file has to go on to another suite without another generation of compression.

How long a video can I edit in a browser?

Short-form and mid-length pieces are comfortable. A feature-length timeline with dozens of 4K tracks will meet the memory ceiling of a browser tab before it meets a limit in the software — a desktop NLE is the better tool for that job, and we would rather say so.

Is compositing node-based or layer-based?

Node-based, alongside a multi-track timeline. The timeline handles the edit; the node graph handles the shot that needs keying, tracking and stacked effects.

Does it do green screen and motion tracking?

Both — keying for green screen work and motion tracking to attach an element to something moving in the plate.

Can I mix the audio here, or do I need Pulse?

Fusion has an audio mixer for the edit itself. Pulse is where a score or a sound design pass belongs, and a Pulse track drops into the timeline without an export step.

Where do the assets come from?

Renders from Render, animations from Composer and Animate, artwork from Inkwell and Vectra — the same project, no round trip through a folder.
